Although my husband wills me to be crafty and make things, I feel stifled by the pressure to be creative. This exact scenario is one of the reasons that this hobby hasn’t become a business. Husband even took time to help clean some of my creative areas in the home so I could make new messes. There’s an opportunity to participate in a craft market with local vendors in a couple of weeks. I’ve invited a new creative friend, to_and_sew, to share a table. She has a focus more for fiber works and her makes are adorable.
So this weekend was supposed to be spent making more inventory. Alas… procrastination got the best of me. Scrolling the inter webs for inspiration took hours away from the actual production of cards. I also discovered my die cutting machine (a Sizzix big shot) may need to be retired. the screw from the handle is lost and my cutting plates are warped beyond use.
Compartmental making to the rescue. Once upon a time husband and I made a bunch of backgrounds using shimmer spray and mica spray. Today, I paired those backgrounds with a skyline cut out die and PRESTO beautiful cards that are just waiting for a sentiment to be attached. Some cuts are crooked and some windows in the skyline aren’t punched through all the way, but that’s where creative embellishments (and sentiment placement) can easily hide any flaws.
