What's In A Year

My last post was created in January of 2022. All of a sudden it’s March of 2023.

So what happened?

Well, I got a voicemail stating my dad was on his deathbed and it was time to come say goodbye. That was In the early spring. I became his primary caretaker while living with my mother in Illinois and that lasted until July. That chapter has way more to it, but I’ll skip it for now.

I returned to my home and my husband in July but I came with a friend who was struggling. My husband and I always offered to open our home with those in need. So there we were: after almost three months of being separated, I returned with a roommate. By September I was looking for a part-time job and found one. The rest of that month was a blur being filled with a Wedding and many birthdays.

October had a flood of home repairs. November, December, and January was an influx of me working as I covered my co-workers holiday vacations. Oh, and my mom got a new boyfriend, had a stroke, and reality of the loss of her husband was both setting in (financially) and being ignored (with a new romantic partner).

BAM! 2022 was over.

This year is speeding by as well, although my husband and I are being more mindful to carve out time for ourselves and our goals. The roommate is gone. My mom seems to be settling into a calmer state of being [She had an RX change and mania for a few weeks in Jan/Feb that threw Everyone around her into chaos as well]. Most importantly, my husband and I just returned from an actual out of state planned vacation. — may be a separate post about the trip, or following the photo/folio album I plan to put together.

CRAFTWISE

So I still have about 50% of the blocks to complete for the block-kit-of-the-month club that I started last year. I jumped back into it in July, but cable knitting required more brainpower than I had; so it’ll be this year’s project as well.

I’ve done a bit of card making and even had a couple of commissioned works. I plan to actually produce an inventory in the coming months and either participate in a couple of craft fairs or provide some of my work for a local shop to sell (or both).

I look forward to doing some more sewing and quilting, but each of those projects are harder to pick up and put down than some of the smaller items.

Digital design and even some digital planners may make it onto my project list this year as well.

PERSONAL HEALTH

I’ve been doing a Lord of the Rings virtual walking challenge with my friend through The Conqueror. It’s been really motivating to work with my friend toward goals as well as the extrinsic tangible medals that we’ve been earning. I even had my friend Kat of Kat Angri Designs design a custom logo for our “fellowship” and had some sweatshirts made —will be another post regarding the challenge, the medals, and the apparel made.

READING

There are a few WEBTOONS that I follow but I haven’t read a physical book yet this year. I do have American Gods on the docket, though, (aka on my nightstand).
