I'm a large fan of Love from Lizi (lovefromlizi.com) and her monthly card kits. I used her Halloween themed stamp sets from October 2018 to make a few cards this year.
Ghouly with Cauldron
I have to be sure to give credit to Charlotte and her YouTube channel at the Joyful Soul Creates and the her no line coloring card video from Oct 2019which was a direct inspiration for this card.
Let’s start with the background. For the base of this card, I started with some pattered paper from a paper pad from Micheal’s, a local craft and hobby store in the U.S. My main desire was to use the Cauldron from this patterned paper. I actually scanned that image and shrunk it by 50% so it’s size would be appropriate for an A2 card. I then ran that print through my Sizzix 3D embossing folder for a brick texture. This embossing folder was released in March of 2020 and immediately sold out. I wasn’t able to get my hands on it until August! It was SO worth it. I used some Twisted Citron Distress Oxide Ink to give a green glow coming from the cauldron. I topped the card with a jeweled sticker embellishment from Micheal’s (that sort of covered the green glow, but still looked great).
For the main images (ghoul, pumpkin, skull, and potion bottle) I used LFL stamps. This was one of my first times using alcohol markers (Copic and Spectrum Noir) for coloring and blending. I used warm grays for the ghoul’s hair, the lights of yellow-greens for her skin, and purple for her clothes. The images were cut out using my Brother Scan ‘N Cut Machine. That Pricey machine paid for itself with this card - allows me to cut around images. Since I like to use stamped images, dies may not be available or may be too expensive, this electronic cutting machine saves my hands (and sanity).
I stamped the ghoul girl image twice so that I could create a layered/decoupage effect with her book and the bow on her head. The bow, book, skull, and pumpkin were added using foam tape to add some dimension to the card.
I used some purple mirror peel offs (LFL) as a border — but, actually, it was covering the printed image border from the patterned paper I used ;)
Bewitched vibes greetings:
Another LFL Halloween character was used for the witch on my next card. Again, playing with alcohol marker coloring, I used cool grey for her outfit.
The skyline was created from another LFL stamp set (October 2019). This was one of my first times using a masking technique (using post-it notes) so I could extend the houses across the card front. Copic markers were used to color the buildings (and a fine micron pen was used to fill in the sky, and clean up the edges, around the houses from my blended background).
The background/sky was made using Distress Oxides in Spun Sugar, Weathered Wood and Black Soot. Then a spray of Wilted Violet (Distress Oxide Spray) added some splatter and tied in the purple from the witch.
Purple embossing powder for the sentiment and purple paper for a matte completed this card.
